Five tips for getting the cut you want

1. Bring a picture

Research hairstyles, bringing in a photo of a hairstyle is a good base from which to work from.

2. Explain exactly what you are thinking

Don’t just say “cut it shorter” or “just a trim please”. Don’t be frightened of giving more specifics i.e. leave the sides and back about a 1cm long.

3. Decide if you will have the time to use a styling product every morning

Most styles will require a styling product of some kind to keep it in tune all day. If you are adamant that a styling product will not be used, the range of styles suitable will be very limited.

4. Give feedback on your last haircut

What did you like about it, what did you not like? Was it easy to style? Was the fringe too long, how did it grow out?

5. Listen to the stylist

Experienced stylists have seen thousands of heads and faces, they will be able to recommend styles that suit you and your hair. They will also show you how to style your hair at home with the recommended styling product.
